Create an App Push Notification

Step 1: Create an App Push Notification Engagement

  1. Go to Campaigns > Segments

  2. Select the Segment Name

  3. Click on App Push Notification on the left panel

  4. Click on Add Engagement

  1. Go to Campaigns > Channels

  2. Click on App Push Notification on the left panel

  3. Click on Add Engagement

  4. Select Segment Name from the list

  5. Click on Confirm And Proceed To Next Step

Step 2: Add General details

  • Engagement Name (mandatory): Add a unique name to the Engagement. It must range between 6-25 characters.

  • Language (mandatory): Select a language in which you prefer to write the Engagement.

  • Select Device (mandatory): Select Android from the device list. The preview on the right should show the preview of the Android device.

  • Select Notification Style (mandatory): Choose a notification style of engagement based on device configuration.

For Android, we have 3 Notification Styles.

You can use this notification style, in case you want to add only text to your App Push engagement.

Use this notification style to add an image with the specified text. You can also add a caption to the engagement image.

Use this notification style to create an infographic engagement in the form of carousels. You can also add captions to your image carousel. The preview is updated in real-time and you can click on the preview to verify if the redirect URL is working.

Step 3: Add a Goal

As you enter the data into each section to create an Engagement, the section will turn red. Once all the information about the section has been entered, the section will turn green. You can complete the sections in any order, but the sections must turn green before you click on Update Engagement.

Step 4: Add Content

  • Title (mandatory): The title of the Engagement message. It should range between 1-42 characters. The recommended max length is 36 characters.

  • Message (mandatory): Enter a brief message explaining the purpose of the Engagement. It should contain at least 6 characters. The recommended max length is 36 characters.

  • Summary: Give a summary of the Engagement. The recommended max length is 36 characters.

  • Target Page: Enter the target URL to which the user will be redirected when the app push notification is clicked. You can add a URL or a deep link.

In cases where the recommended size is stated, there is no length constraint for the message. However, it might get trimmed while it is delivered leading to data loss, or might not get delivered at all. Lemnisk suggests you should keep it to the recommended length.

Try with AI

Lemnisk's generative AI creates the content and images for creating engagement in the relevant sections. Clicking on try with AI will provide Ramanujan's generated content based on the previous data available in the segment. Additionally, it provides a list of recommendations in the window pane on the right from which you can select suitable content and Images. you can also use the prompt to generate content as required which can be edited and modified later.

If your engagement type is Big Image or Image Carousel, follow the steps mentioned in the tabs:

Upload Image (mandatory): Upload an image of the following dimensions:

  • Aspect Ratio: 2:1

  • Max Size: 40 kb

  • Supported File Formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG,WEBP.

It is mandatory to have 2 products in the Carousel.

  • Upload Image (mandatory):

Upload an image of the following dimensions: - Aspect Ratio: 2:1 - Max Size: 1 MB - Supported File Formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG,WEBP.

  • Caption (mandatory): Give a caption to the image. The recommended max length is 24 characters.

Click on Add Product to add the image carousel.

  • Use Button: Check the use button feature to add a button to the app push notification. Buttons are optional. You can add at most 3 buttons.

  • Button Text (mandatory): Add text to the button.

  • Target Page: You can redirect the user to different platforms when they click the button.

  • Select Link Type (mandatory): The function you want the button to perform.

Follow the steps as shown in the below tab as per the selected link type.

You can redirect the user to a URL in the browser.

Enter URL (mandatory): Enter the URL of the target page.

You can redirect users to a particular screen on the application.

Enter URL (mandatory): Enter the URL for a specific activity within the application.

An acknowledgment will trigger a new app notification for the user, once s/he clicks the button. You need to include the following content as well.

Title (mandatory): The title of the inline Engagement.

Message (mandatory): Enter a brief message explaining the purpose of the Engagement.

Summary: Give a summary of the Engagement.

User can dismiss the notification when the button is clicked.

Consider a scenario where you want to send a personalized notification about term life insurance to users. This notification redirects them to a unique URL on your website with their user ID. It also shows them their personalized message, such as their premium amount, when it will expire, etc. So, you can send hyper-personalized app push notifications to users, tailored to them.

Step 5: Enhance Delivery

Enabling Enhanced delivery facilitates reaching your customers in your desired time frame and expires the notification once it reaches its expiry and also increases the probability of message delivery even in poor network conditions.

  • Set Expiry: Setting an expiry for your communication will prevent your communication from sending to the users once the purpose of the communication is elapsed. Let's say, as a marketer you want to communicate to your users about the launch event and exclusive offers that are about to be held on a certain time period. By setting an expiry for your communication, you can prevent the communication from reaching users who couldn't receive your text before the event due to network failure or any other unfavorable circumstances.

You can set the expiry for your communication with this option. The maximum expiry that can be set is upto 28 days max.

  • Preserve message for: You can set your communication expiry for minutes/hours/days by setting the time range. The default time frame is set to 6 hours and the minimum time frame must be at least 1 hour.

  • Preserve Message till: You can set your communication validity until any particular date and time from the calendar. The minimum time frame must be at least 1 hour

  • Enable Push Max: Enabling Push Max will enhance your delivery by providing optimal communication based on the network strength of the user. This allows the users to receive your communication with the media in a good network connection and also facilitates text only in poor network conditions which improves the chances of your communication delivery.

Step 6: Schedule Settings

Step 7: Save Click "Save" to save the Engagement.
