Real-time Segments

Real-time segmentation can be used whenever users have to be segmented immediately based on an action, for example, as soon as the user purchases a product, you wish to send a Thank You email.

Additionally, you may define exclusion events, where you wish to evaluate if the user DOES NOT do something after doing the inclusion event. For example, as soon as the user adds a product to the cart AND does not purchase in the next 2 days, follow up with a WhatsApp nudge.

Create Real-time segments

  1. Name: Provide a name for your segment.

  2. Tags: Select the tags to identify your segments.

  3. Segment priority: Prioritise your segments according to your requirements.

  4. In the Applied rules section, select the event that you want to track in as the inclusion event. You may optionally add more events to the inclusion criteria.

  5. Then, add the event(s) which is to be evaluated as the exclusion criteria - when the users do not perform the xyz event. You can add multiple events here as well.

  1. And add filters for the selected event using its properties as shown below.

  2. You can include filters based on users’ attributes and past behaviour to the segment as well by selecting the checkbox Filter on user attributes and past behaviour.

  3. Communication type: To communicate with users at an entity level, select the check box Communicate at an entity level and choose the entity to target.

    1. Further, select if the PII data has to be picked from the Entity of the profiles or from the profiles themselves.

    2. Fallback (If PII is to be picked from the Entity level): Choose whether to drop the engagement or fallback to the profile's PII.

Edit Segment

Perform the following steps to edit the existing segments

  1. Navigate to > Segments and click on any of the existing segments.

  2. Once you click on the segment, a new window opens with a button Edit segment which allows you to edit the segment descriptions, tags and conditions.
